What to expect at Lopes Chiropractic

We understand that coming to a new doctor's office for the first time can be nerve racking. If you've never experienced chiropractic care before, you may not know what to expect. Filling out paperwork, learning new faces, and getting to know your way around the office can be an overwhelming experience.

That's why our aim is to remove any unnecessary stress or tension and make you feel comfortable during your first and all subsequent visits with Doctor Lopes.

An appointment is necessary to schedule your first visit. After arriving and completing the necessary paperwork, we will ask if there is any insurance coverage we can check for you. As you may know, insurance has changed drastically in the last few years and many people are unaware of what their plan allows. We want to help you out with this confusing task. We will help you determine whether or not using your insurance here is the best option for you. Given the reductions in coverage that have taken place with many insurances, there are many times when a pay as you go discount rate might be more practical for you. Even if we don't bill your insurance, you may still use it to possibly get reimbursed by you submitting a superbill to your insurance company that we prepare for you.

When you first meet with Dr. Lopes, he will have a consultation with you about your reasons for seeking care. At this time he will discuss all of your concerns with you to thoroughly understand your health care needs. Then, if it appears to be indicated, you will have an exam. This will usually consist of specific spine, physical and nerve assessments included computer-aided ranges of motion testing.

If your condition warrants it, an x-ray will be taken. One could say that an x-ray exam is like blue prints for building a house. An x-ray helps the doctor see what is happening on the inside. Many times our pain is a result of a years old problems and having a picture can help in discovering these underlying issues.

Once Dr. Lopes has all your necessary information to recommend a course of care, you will return at another time to go over the findings from the x-rays with him in what's called a Report of Findings. Just like all people are different, your body needs it's own schedule to heal. Keeping on the recommended course of care is very important for proper healing.

It is our goal to have you feeling better and back to a lifestyle with minimal visits to our office. We give you tools like adjustments to your spine and extremity joints, spinal stabilization exercises, ergonomic advice and massage therapy (each only as indicated by your body's needs) to help with a healthy spine, nerve and musculo-skeletal system and a healthy lifestyle.
